RED EARTH
THE UNKNOWN DEPTHS is an award-winning cine-poem and Matt’s directorial debut.
The Unknown Depths is an elegy to existential crisis and unrequited adieux. With an evocative original score from Grammy Award winning composer Markus Illko, this dramatic short, in a sleek experimental, le realisme poétique style, uses footage from all habitable continents to display the universality of the human experience.
Written, Directed, and Produced by Matt–who also acts in the film. The movie was an Official Selection at the 2023 Sunscreen Film Festival and a Gold Remi Award Winner at the 2023 WorldFest – Houston International Film Festival and an Official Selection at the 2023 Silent City Film Festival. Matt also won “Best Director” at Cineverse’s 2024 HybridGrenre film festival in Los Angeles.
